Dead Darlings #7 — Ghent
Dead Darlings is an anonymous and subversive auction series that began in Amsterdam in 2005 by Tania Theodorou and Lina Ozerkina as a platform to explore the complex love triangle between artist, artwork, and collector. For the first edition in Belgium, the collective collaborated with vzw Punctum and continued its tradition of auctioning works without revealing their makers. Each lot was introduced only by title, with artists’ names listed alphabetically and disclosed only after the sale — giving the works a chance to stand on their own, free from the weight of authorship.
The auction catalogue, designed and risograph-printed in Rome at NERO’s headquarters, featured 46 artists and the stories behind each lot explaining why it was considered a dead darling. The 7th edition of Dead Darlings took place on 3 December 2011 at KASK in Ghent, Belgium.
